HOME Stadia

A book series created in collaboration with illustrator Marcus Marritt inspired by not just the beautiful game, but the beautiful structures, spaces and songs that make them so special.

HOME: Volume One was released in 2021 and is a celebration and a documentation of 30 of the greatest club football stadiums. Each stadium in the book is a removable print sized at 12” x 16”, with the information detailed in its HOME language as a tribute.

It’s about the stadiums.

It’s about the fans.

It’s about the songs.

It’s HOME.

The goal to collaborate

Finding unique views and perspectives in a minimalistic drawing style with a strong focus on light and shadow is key to Marcus’s work. The illustrations capture viewpoints and hidden observations from around each stadium that play with scale, recognisable characteristics and colours.

We hosted a launch event held in Wasps Studios South Block building showcasing a series of 7 limited edition prints inspired by the cover artwork of HOME: Volume One.

Illustrator Marcus Marritt said: “It was only once I had connected with Luke at Pim-Pam did a clear idea form between us on how to format and structure this series of books, to be more than simply a collection of my stadia illustrations. Alongside my work on the illustrations, it has very much been the ‘designer’s eye’ from Pim-Pam that has given this series real context, to do all we can to recognise the lyrics and atmosphere of the places fans call HOME. Deciding to develop and publish a book during a global pandemic was something that kept us sane and also felt right. Whatever may come of this series, we can always look back on Volume One knowing that this was all born during a time when we knew very much the value of those special places we call HOME.”

HOME Stadia Workshop

As well as an exhibition space, we held a drop in workshop in partnership with Braw Talent who develop and deliver high quality arts programmes for children and young people.

The workshop for families and children focussed on exploring colour, line and shape from the HOME exhibition and book series in order to bring this side of the creative process to a different audience. The aim to teach, inspire and give hands on experience to children and young people about the different creative connection to football through design and illustration.
